The oppressive atmosphere, a blend of stagnant swamp air and the metallic tang of iron, underscores Durao’s purpose: a brutal, transient military outpost in the infinite, ever-shifting horrors of the Abyss, a place where the river Styx cuts through the landscape, a constant reminder of the plane's connection to other fiendish realms.
