As the trio matures, Yahiko, driven by a desire to end the suffering he sees daily, forms the Akatsuki—a fledgling organization dedicated to achieving peace through unity and strength. With Nagato and Konan at his side, Yahiko leads the group to prominence within Amegakure, gaining support from civilians and disenfranchised shinobi alike. However, their rising influence draws the ire of Hanzo of the Salamander, who, with covert support from Danzo Shimura of Konoha’s ROOT, orchestrates a deadly betrayal. Cornered and forced to choose, Yahiko sacrifices himself to save his friends, a moment that shatters Nagato’s idealism. Taking the name Pain, Nagato assumes leadership and reshapes the Akatsuki into a militant force bent on imposing peace through overwhelming power, setting the stage for a new, more dangerous era in the shinobi world.
