With the Uchiha coup imminent and all diplomatic efforts exhausted, Konoha’s leadership—led by Danzo Shimura and reluctantly sanctioned by Hiruzen Sarutobi—makes a grim decision: the Uchiha Clan must be eliminated to prevent civil war and preserve the village. Itachi Uchiha, burdened by Shisui’s death and determined to protect Konoha and his younger brother, agrees to carry out the massacre in exchange for Sasuke’s safety and anonymity regarding the truth. Under the cover of night, with covert assistance from Obito Uchiha—still operating under the name of Madara—Itachi slaughters his entire clan in a single, blood-soaked night, silencing every voice that might ignite a wider conflict. When the carnage ends, only Sasuke remains, left alive by Itachi to carry on the Uchiha name and given the illusion that his brother acted out of power-hungry betrayal. Branded a traitor, Itachi flees the village and joins the criminal organization Akatsuki under Pain.
