Beyond the Wall

Beyond the Wall

a desolate region, home to the wildlings that live beyond the wall, snowridden and a struggle to survive in.

Dorne Desert

Dorne Desert

A vast, arid desert dominating the southern peninsula of Westeros, ruled by the Prince of Dorne from Sunspear. Known for its harsh climate, resilient inhabitants, and unique culture blending desert survival with noble traditions.

Duskendale

Duskendale

A section of fertile mountains and valleys where the light reflects to create a semi-permanent twilight, where the air itself seems to be shades of pink and orange.

Essos

Essos

Essos, often simply called the east, is the largest of the three known continents in the world. It lies east of Westeros and north of Sothoryos and Ulthos, stretching from the Shivering Sea in the north to the Summer Sea in the south, and from the narrow sea in the west to the lands surrounding the Jade Sea in the east, if not farther. Essos is populated by many different peoples and has a vast and varied geography.

Iron Isles

Iron Isles

The Iron Isles is a rugged archipelago steeped in both tradition and strife, known for its harsh terrain and storied history. Once ruled by the rock and salt of High Kings selected through kingsmoots, it is now under the dominion of House Greyjoy, with their stronghold at Pyke. The stark coastline is surrounded by tumultuous seas, where the echoes of ancient maritime battles still resonate.

King's Landing

King's Landing

King's Landing is a sprawling, fortified capital known for its political intrigue and social struggles, housing the Iron Throne within the Red Keep. The city is crowded and unsightly, with a pervasive stench of waste contrasting its grandeur and ambition.

Riverlands

Riverlands

The Riverlands in Westeros are characterized by their extensive network of rivers and waterways, which play a central role in the region's geography. The most significant of these is the Trident, formed by the convergence of the Red, Green, and Blue Forks of the river. These waterways create a complex system of tributaries and streams that define the landscape. The Riverlands also include the Blackwater Rush and the Gods Eye, a large lake from which several rivers and streams originate.

Stepping Stones

The Land of Always Winter

The Land of Always Winter

a vast, desolate expanse bordered by towering, icy mountains that seem to touch the sky. A continuous winter blankets the land, where the winds howl like lost souls, and the sun rarely breaks through the thick, swirling snow clouds. This land, littered with remnants of ancient battles, with skeletal trees that twist agonizingly against the biting cold and frozen lakes that mirror the eerie landscape.

The Narrow Sea

The Narrow Sea

The narrow sea is the sea between the continents of Westeros to its west and Essos to its east. The sea is relatively narrow and easy to cross, but large enough to make large-scale invasions and military incursions between the Seven Kingdoms and the Free Cities difficult. There is regular trade across the narrow sea between the two continents and the Port of Ibben.Westerosi nobles are sometimes fostered or seek refuge in the cities across the water.

The North

The North

The North is the largest region of Westeros, almost as large as the other eight regions combined. It is characterized by vast wilderness, rising moorlands, high plains, forests, pine-covered hills, and snow-capped mountains, speckled with tiny villages and holdfasts. The North is bordered to the south by the Neck, a marshy isthmus, and to the north by the Wall, a massive man-made ice wall that separates the Seven Kingdoms from the lands beyond. The region is covered by open plains in the south, lakes in the west, and dense forests in the north, most notably the Wolfswood in the northwest. The North's main river is the White Knife, which flows from the Long Lake down to the sea. The region is also home to significant chains of hills and low mountains, with a more extensive chain of mountains located in the northwest, which is the southern part of the Frostfangs range. The North is known for its cold climate, with snowfall common even in the middle of the years-long "summers".

The Reach

The Reach

The Reach is a region in the southern part of Westeros, characterized by vast plains filled with fields of wheat, corn, and barley, along with small forests and rivers that provide water. It is the second-largest region in Westeros, after the North, and is known for its fertility and high population, with estimates ranging from ten to twelve million people. The region is also the second-richest in Westeros, after the Westerlands, and is often referred to as the "breadbasket" of the continent due to its agricultural abundance. The Reach is home to the Mander and Honeywine rivers, which flow through its valleys, contributing to its rich farmland. The area is also known for its cultural significance, with Oldtown being the oldest and second-largest city in Westeros, and a center for education and chivalry.

The Stormlands

The Stormlands

A rugged coastal region marked by harsh mountains, stony shores, and dense verdant forests, known for fierce autumn storms and a sparse, hardy population famed for their warrior and sailor skills.

The Vale

The Vale

The Vale of Arryn is a breathtakingly beautiful valley surrounded by the towering Mountains of the Moon, known for its lush greenery and rich history. Once a sovereign nation ruled by the Kings of Mountain and Vale, it is now a prominent region within the Seven Kingdoms, still echoing the pride and legacy of House Arryn.

The Wall

The Wall

The Wall is a colossal expanse of ice, stretching across the northern border of the realm, acting as a formidable barrier between the civilized lands and the untamed wilderness beyond. Towering higher than any mountain, its surface shimmers with an otherworldly glow under the moonlight, instilling both awe and fear in those who dare to approach. The Wall serves as a reminder of the constant struggle between civilization and the wild, as ancient legends and chilling howls echo from the depths beyond its icy facade.

Westerlands

Westerlands

The Westerlands are located on the western part of the continent of Westeros, along the coast of the Sunset Sea and bordering the Iron Islands to the west. The region is characterized by rugged hills, plains, fertile farmland, and forests, with many castles along the coast. The Westerlands are rich in precious metals, particularly gold and silver, which are mined in vast quantities, contributing to the wealth of the region, especially House Lannister of Casterly Rock. The geography of the Westerlands includes the Tumblestone and Red Fork rivers, which flow into the Riverlands, and the Golden Tooth, a castle that guards the eastern part of the region and controls access to the River Road leading to Riverrun. The Westerlands are also known for their mountainous terrain, which provides natural defenses against external attacks.

Westeros

Westeros

The realm is scarred by the devastating civil war that pitted Targaryen against Targaryen. The once-mighty house's power has waned significantly, with only a handful of young, smaller dragons remaining. King Aemon Targaryen the Third sits uneasily upon the Iron Throne, their rule more dependent on political alliances than the threat of dragonfire. The Seven Kingdoms are in a state of uneasy peace, with old rivalries and new ambitions simmering on the surface. The great houses, tasted power during the war, now vie for influence in a court where dragons no longer guarantee absolute authority. Beyond the Wall, whispers of ancient threats stir, unheeded by a realm too focused on its internal strife. In Essos, powers rise and fall, eyeing Westeros with a mix of opportunity and caution. This is a Westeros where magic is fading, but the cruelty and ambition of men remain as sharp as Valyrian steel. Loyalty is fleeting, alliances are fragile, and in the game of thrones, you win or you die.
