Ring Mail is a transitional form of armor, offering more protection than simple leather but falling short of the full coverage provided by true chainmail. It consists of a base layer of durable leather, reinforced with heavy metal rings sewn directly into the material in overlapping rows. These rings help absorb & deflect incoming blows, particularly from slashing weapons like swords or axes. Though heavier & noisier than lighter armor types, ring mail is relatively easy to produce and maintain.
