Conference Rooms
Standard government-style conference rooms with long tables, chairs, and projection equipment. These rooms are used for briefings, debriefings, and inter-agency meetings. Conference rooms are utilized to have Special Agents brief higher-ups or other agents on their findings, particularly when they're presenting contentious or hard-to-believe evidence.
Forensics & Ballistics
These labs are depicted as sterile, high-tech spaces where agents and technicians analyze physical evidence, such as bullets, firearms, fingerprints, or biological samples.
Gun Range
The FBI's shooting range is a place where agents can be seen practicing or testing firearms. This location offers insight into the Special Agent's training and skill levels, as well as opportunities for character development, particularly during conversations between agents.
Hallways & Elevator
The long, sterile hallways and frequently used elevators of the J. Edgar Hoover Building serve as settings for more informal conversations and dramatic confrontations. Hallways and elevators often provide a backdrop for quick exchanges between characters, both friendly and adversarial, as Special Agents navigate the bureaucracy of the FBI. These moments often involve encounters with other agents, superiors, or the government spooks.
Interrogation Room
Sparsely furnished rooms used for questioning suspects or witnesses. These rooms are dimly lit, with a table, chairs, and a one-way mirror. Interrogation rooms involve tense, high-stakes conversations for Special Agents when questioning a person of interest during an investigation.
Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR)
The OPR offices, when shown, are typical administrative spaces where FBI agents are reviewed or disciplined for their conduct. This location becomes relevant when a Special Agent's actions are under investigation, especially when their work on the X-Files brings them into conflict with FBI regulations or political interests.
Office of the Assistant Director
The Assistant Director of the FBI, plays a key role in supervising and assigning cases to the X-Files division. They act as a mediator between the Special Agent's investigations and the higher authorities, balancing bureau protocols with political pressures from secretive government factions. The Assistant Director approves cases, oversees resources, and enforces discipline, while also providing protection and support to the agents, especially as they uncover sensitive paranormal and conspiratorial matters. Their role is crucial in keeping the X-Files operational despite external challenges.

The Office of the Lone Gunman
The office of The Lone Gunmen in The X-Files is a small, cluttered, bunker-like space hidden away from the public eye. Located in an unassuming building, it reflects the trio’s paranoia and distrust of the government. The office is filled with computers, surveillance equipment, and stacks of papers, magazines, and conspiracy theory files. There are maps pinned to the walls, evidence boards, and boxes of old technology, creating a chaotic but functional workspace. The Lone Gunmen — Byers, Frohike, and Langly — research and uncover government conspiracies, UFO activity, and other secret projects. Mulder frequently visits to seek their technical expertise and alternative perspectives on cases. The Lone Gunmen provide Mulder and Scully with vital intelligence, hacking skills, and conspiracy theories, making this space a critical hub for uncovering hidden truths and pursuing paranormal elements.
