Description

Pteranodons are large, winged reptiles with a wingspan of up to 30 feet. They have sharp beaks and are excellent fliers, often seen gliding above the island’s cliffs and coastal areas. Though primarily fish-eaters, they are known to attack smaller creatures, including humans, if threatened or hungry.

Aerial Maneuvering

The Pteranodon has advantage on Dexterity saving throws while flying.

Bite

Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) piercing damage.

Dive Attack:

If the Pteranodon is flying and dives at least 30 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a bite attack on the same turn, the attack deals an extra 9 (2d8) damage to the target.

Grab and Carry

The Pteranodon attempts to grab a Medium or smaller creature with its claws. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or be grappled (escape DC 14). If the target is grappled, the Pteranodon can use a bonus action to fly up to half its flying speed, potentially dropping the target from a height.
