Jotunn Extermination
The Jotunn Extermination, also known as the Extermination of the Giants of Midgard or the Aesir Carnage, was the last of the @Aesir's brutal mass genocides ordered by @Odin Borson as a result of being exiled from @Jötunheim, Odin ordered @Thor Odinson to kill any and all giants he can find in Midgard. The goal was to wipe out the remaining @Jotunn from said region and place their race on the verge of extinction.
Prelude
@Tyr, in order to seek peace between his clan, the Aesir, and the @Jotunn, proposed a peaceful meeting with the Giant kings in Jötunheim and invited his father Odin to represent the Aesir together with him. Though Odin lies that @Thor Odinson's hammer @Mjølnir is merely a deterrent that is meant to bring peace instead of a position of strength, the Jötnar became deeply concerned of the hammer, as they see it as a super-weapon that they don't trust, they nevertheless put their trust in Týr. The Norse God of War, taking Odin's desire for "peace", proceeded to bring the All-Father to Jötunheim. However, Odin took advantage of this so he could spy and steal the Jötnar's secret wisdom.
In Jötunheim, the giants immediately anticipated this despicable trickery and they exposed the All-Father's true agenda in the process. As they now knew that Odin could never be trusted, the Giants magically expelled the All-Father from Jötunheim and he was cursed to never return.
Mass Extinction
Furious over having been banished from Jötunheim, Odin unleashes his rage on the Giants in Midgard by ordering Thor to slaughter any giant he could find with his hammer. Týr, filled with guilt and believing himself to be responsible for the suffering brought upon the giants, aided the Jötnar in retreating to Jötunheim. In addition, all the entrances to said realm were immediately destroyed in order to prevent the Aesir from accessing them, while the Jötunheim realm tower was then hidden in the Realm between Realms. Following this, nearly all of the giants could no longer be found in Midgard, causing them to not be seen for years, though the World Serpent, @Jörmungandr, continued to remain.
Last Survivors
Meanwhile, in Jötunheim, some of the Jötnar, who wished to hide from Odin and Thor, had their souls sealed within special marbles by @Angrboda's father. However, other giants instead chose to flee to parts unknown and to never be seen again. In order to confuse Odin if he ever sets foot in Jötunheim, giant corpses where scattered so that it would look like all the Jötnar had died out.
However, millennia later, the Jotunn came out of hiding and rebuilt themselves, with Laufey eventually giving birth to @Loki Laufeyson.
