Description

Rauthauvyr’s Road is a storied north–south route running through the Dalelands, connecting the Standing Stone—a central symbol of Dalelands unity—to the bustling Sembian capital of Ordulin. Commissioned around 885 DR by Rauthauvyr "the Raven," the founder of Sembia, the road was originally constructed to link the fledgling merchant nation with the heartlands of Faerûn. Today, it serves as a vital artery for trade, diplomacy, and cultural exchange between the independent Dales and the merchant-lords of Sembia. It traverses wooded glades, quiet farms, and historical battlegrounds, and passes landmarks such as Essembra, Aencar’s Manor ruins, Blackfeather Bridge, and the hilltop shrine at Tegal’s Mark. Though watched over by local militias and Sembian scouts, the road remains vulnerable to bandits, political tensions, and wandering threats from the fringes of Cormanthor. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most traveled and symbolically important roads in northeastern Faerûn.

Appearance

The road winds through forested and cultivated lands, marked by raven sigil waystones every mile, shaded by silverleaf and duskwood trees, with cobbled and worn sections, roadside shrines, ivy-covered ruins, the feather-carved Blackfeather Bridge over a misty stream, and banners fluttering near Essembra, leading to vineyards and manor houses near Ordulin.
