Tucked into the arid slopes north of Athkatla’s Temple and Trade Districts, Yrille is a sprawling shanty town that clings to the city’s outer edge like an afterthought. Unwalled and largely ignored by the Council of Six, it is a place of makeshift dwellings, cloth tents, crumbling clay homes, and salvaged wood shacks. Its residents are laborers, refugees, peddlers, and outcasts—those too poor or inconvenient for Athkatla’s gilded interior. Despite hardship, Yrille endures through tight-knit kinship, roadside commerce, and unofficial services the city quietly relies on: smuggling, unlicensed healing, and informal trade networks. Faith thrives here in defiance, with street preachers and self-made shrines outnumbering sanctioned temples. While guards rarely patrol these dusty paths, the Cowled Wizards keep an eye on Yrille’s hedge mages and unsanctioned spellwork, striking swiftly when arcane laws are breached.

Yrille stretches across dry, uneven ground, a tangle of patched roofs, flapping tarps, and foot-worn alleys. Smoke rises from cookfires and forges. The smell is a mix of spices, dust, and ash. Barefoot children dart through narrow lanes while tired merchants shout their wares from sun-bleached stalls.
