Description

Fasvele is a bustling shantytown pressed against Athkatla’s southern walls, straddling the well-worn trade road that feeds coin and culture into the City of Coin. Though technically beyond the city’s formal districts, Fasvele thrives as a liminal space—part rural sprawl, part urban overflow. Traders, pilgrims, mercenaries, and outlanders camp here in rickety lean-tos and patchwork longhouses, many waiting days or weeks for entry, trade permits, or word from within. Unlike the destitute outskirts of other Faerûnian cities, Fasvele hums with energy and relative prosperity; food carts sell spiced lentil stew, dwarven brewers tap portable casks, and bards sing for tents stuffed with travelers. Smugglers and information brokers hide among the honest folk, taking advantage of the lax oversight from city patrols. Though lawless in parts, Fasvele is deeply woven into Athkatla’s mercantile heart, acting as its first handshake—and sometimes its backdoor.

Appearance

Approaching Fasvele, the dusty road swells into a colorful crush of canvas tents, wood-slatted carts, and haphazard stalls. Weather-worn banners flap in the breeze, and the scent of roasting chickpeas and manure mingles on the air. The city’s stone walls loom behind, while campfires crackle, children dart between goats, and voices in a dozen tongues echo across the roadside sprawl.
