Description

Once the spiritual heart of Athkatla, the Temple District still bears the echoes of divine grandeur despite centuries of change. Though many of its sacred halls were lost in the devastating fires of the late 13th century DR, the district clings to its legacy through crumbling spires, repurposed shrines, and enduring street names like the Street of Seven Altars and Godsmoot Lane. It remains a place of quiet reverence and hushed commerce, where minor chapels and pious merchants coexist. The Pride of Athkatla, a bustling enclosed market at its heart, keeps the district alive with local trade, supplying pilgrims, clerics, and travelers alike. Some claim the Temple of Talos still lingers in hidden cellars or forgotten vaults, while others whisper that divine sparks remain buried in the stones. Though no longer the seat of the gods’ favor, the district’s foundation is built on faith, loss, and enduring purpose.

Appearance

The district features soot-streaked domes, broken bell towers, and worn temple facades now serving as workshops and homes. Stone streets wind past cracked divine mosaics and softened statues, with incense scents mingling with market aromas. Sunlight glints on stained-glass fragments, while distant bells and chants create a slow, reverent atmosphere under the watchful gaze of history.
