Description

The Guild of Shadow Thieves operates as the most pervasive and dangerous criminal syndicate in Athkatla and all of Amn. Hidden in plain sight yet protected by bribes, leverage, and long-standing deals with key officials, the Guild exerts control over smuggling, extortion, blackmail, and assassination. Its headquarters lies beneath the Docks District in a heavily warded compound accessible only through disguised entrances and guarded tunnels. The Guild's influence reaches even into the Council of Six, though such ties are never openly acknowledged. Recruits and initiates are constantly tested through betrayal-laced trials, while ranking members conduct their business cloaked in code and ritual. Though they clash often with the Harpers and operate outside the law, the Cowled Wizards tend to turn a blind eye—so long as the Guild’s actions don't threaten arcane trade.

Appearance

From above, the lair is hidden beneath a crumbling, nondescript warehouse with locked iron doors near the wharves. Below, the compound features flickering brass oil lamps along damp stone walls carved with ancient Thayan symbols, dark velvet tapestries for sound-dampening, enchanted locks on drawers, and hooded cloaked figures moving silently through shadowed corridors thick with the scent of smoke and secrets.
