The Sea’s Bounty Tavern clings to the edge of Athkatla’s central trade routes like barnacles on a hull—sturdy, weathered, and quietly profitable. Long frequented by dockhands, smugglers, traveling merchants, and off-duty city guards, the tavern has built a reputation as the unofficial middle ground between law and lawless. Ostensibly a seafood tavern, it offers strong spirits, spiced squid stew, and fried river eels served on driftwood platters. But it’s the backroom booths and locked cellar that see the most coin, where coded phrases unlock meetings between fence agents, bounty brokers, or Cowled Wizards looking to quietly monitor new arrivals. The barkeep, a grizzled ex-pirate named Thaldun Reeve, plays dumb with uncanny consistency and always seems to clean the bar just a little too close to those whispered conversations.
The Sea’s Bounty stands two stories tall with warped oak siding, a sloped tile roof, and a sign bearing a grinning marlin biting a coin. Inside, lanternlight flickers off nets, nautical charts, and barnacle-crusted décor. The air smells of brine, beer, and baked shellfish. Rough-hewn tables are stained with old ale rings, and sea-weathered patrons nurse drinks while casting wary eyes at shadowed corners.
