Description

Tucked within the Wave District near Athkatla’s observatory, the Guild of Physicists is a quiet but essential institution devoted to the study of natural forces, medicine, anatomy, and practical alchemy. While not as politically influential as the Cowled Wizards or as wealthy as the merchant guilds, the Guild is respected for its contributions to sanitation, plague prevention, and battlefield medicine. Its members include surgeons, apothecaries, scholars of the humors, and those rare few who dare blend divine insight with arcane principles. The Guild maintains uneasy relations with the Cowled Wizards, who keep close watch on its more experimental research. Though secular in structure, the Guild has long benefited from private donations, including those by progressive-minded temples and reformist nobles eager to modernize Amn.

Appearance

The Guild’s building is a tall, narrow structure of cream-colored limestone and burnished bronze, with rows of narrow windows and an observatory dome affixed to one wing. A double-door arch bears the etched symbol of an open hand holding a caduceus. Inside, the air is crisp with herbal tinctures and ink, and the halls echo with the quiet footsteps of scholars moving between anatomical theaters, dissection chambers, and storerooms filled with scrolls and surgical tools. Light filters through colored panes, casting medical diagrams in soft hues across polished tile floors, while bronze plaques commemorate past discoveries along the corridors.
