Description

The Diamond Dragon is one of Athkatla’s most illustrious and expensive performance venues, located in the heart of the Gem District. Known for its opulence and exclusivity, it serves as both a high-end inn and a grand amphitheater, drawing nobles, merchants, and foreign dignitaries who seek a night of refined entertainment. Built with silver-veined marble and crystal-inlaid arches, the venue is famed for its nightly performances—operas, plays, and magical exhibitions—sponsored by some of the wealthiest patrons in Amn. Run by the charismatic elven impresario Jalael Sern, the Diamond Dragon has long walked the fine line between commerce and art, serving as neutral ground for powerful individuals who come to be entertained, seen, or negotiate under the illusion of leisure. While protected by city law, the inn has a quiet understanding with the Cowled Wizards, who tolerate minor illusions and magical flair within its walls.

Appearance

The Diamond Dragon glows with candlelight and glamour, its pearlstone façade crowned by a stylized dragon sigil wrought in enchanted glass. Tall stained-glass windows depict scenes of Waukeen’s bounty, bardic legends, and great moments in Amnian history. Within, guests pass into a vaulted atrium perfumed with myrrh and rose oil, its mosaic floors polished to a mirror sheen. Ushers in gold-trimmed uniforms guide patrons to private boxes, velvet lounges, or the central stage hall, where crystalline chandeliers flicker with subtle enchantments. Harp strings and rich vocals drift through the air, while fine wine and rare delicacies are served with silent precision. Even the inn’s guest rooms are opulent, offering thick featherbeds, bathing basins of heated stone, and views of the Promenade’s gem-lit skyline.
