Description

Fallenstar Fine Gems is one of Athkatla’s most prestigious gem boutiques, nestled in the heart of the Gem District and famed for its deep trade ties across Amn, Tethyr, and Calimshan. Run by the venerable Imbralyn family for over three generations, it deals in rare stones from the Marching Mountains, enchanted opals from Calimport, and even skyfire sapphires imported via Calimshan’s coastal routes. The boutique serves both nobility and high-ranking merchants, offering gems for ceremonial regalia, magical enhancements, and discreet vault investments. It is known not only for the quality of its stones but for its ruthless discretion; rumor claims high-ranking members of the Council of Six use Fallenstar as a laundering route for state-funded “expeditions.” Cowled Wizards are known to appraise select pieces for magical viability before private sale. Guards in subtle leather armor keep constant watch—some say trained by the Shadow Thieves, though no proof has ever surfaced.

Appearance

The boutique occupies a curved corner pavilion of smooth pearl-gray stone, set with polished gold-veined pillars and inset panes of pale blue quartz that catch the midday sun like glimmering water. A small garden of meticulously kept gemstone-colored flowers lines the front, guarded by a wrought-iron fence etched with sigils of protection and commerce. Inside, the air is dry and quiet, with plush sapphire-colored carpeting, luminous chandeliers of cut crystal, and glass cases trimmed in darkwood and enchanted brass. Each gem display hovers slightly above its velvet stand, rotating slowly under a gentle magical field. Imbralyn clerks in sleek navy and silver attire serve clients with a formal tone, rarely making eye contact unless spoken to.
