EDEN

EDEN is the central virtual world where much of the story takes place. It’s a highly advanced cyberspace network service created by Kamishiro Enterprises. Users access it using special devices called EDEN Access Terminals and avatars called EDEN Avatars, which allow them to dive fully into the digital space as if it were a real environment.

Key Features of EDEN:

  • Immersive Virtual Reality: Unlike typical internet browsing, EDEN provides a fully interactive 3D world where people can walk, talk, shop, and interact almost like in real life.

  • Avatars: Each user is represented by an avatar. These can be customized, though some rare accounts have special avatars with unusual properties (including the protagonist’s).

  • Digital Networks: EDEN is more than just a chatroom or game; it’s an expansive infrastructure that connects businesses, entertainment, communication, and even government functions.

  • Hubs and Areas: It contains multiple “community areas,” shops, cafés, and restricted data zones. Some parts are open to all, while others require clearance.

  • Digital Shifts: Glitches and anomalies within EDEN can cause rips between the digital and physical world, leading to encounters with Digimon and the “Eater” phenomena.
zones. Some parts are open to all, while others require clearance.

  • Digimon: Digital Monsters called "Digimon" inhabit the lower areas of EDEN. Seen as dangerous programs these Digimon can be tamed by hackers and used for many purposes from battle, security, enhancing hacking skills, and traversal.

Role in the Story:

EDEN isn’t just a backdrop—it’s crucial to the game’s themes. It represents both the convenience and danger of total digital integration. Much of the main character’s adventure begins after an incident inside EDEN leaves them in a half-digital, half-physical state, and many mysteries involving Digimon, hackers, and Kamishiro revolve around EDEN’s hidden truths.
