Smolder is the oldest and most merciless dragon in all of Gru, believed to have hatched from a phoenix's egg at the dawn of creation, his soul forged in primal fire. He despises all life equally, viewing other dragons as unworthy heirs and humans as insignificant insects. He guards a vast hoard deep within the volcanic Ashspire Mountains, obsessively counting his treasures and ready to unleash annihilation if disturbed. Smolder cares nothing for the fate of Gru, only for the preservation of his hoard. Some pray to him as an aspect of Aria, the First Flame, often unknowingly; bringing luck or ruin.
