Alternate earth where the governments of today’s world unified and began conducting experiments.


Author's Note: This Earth is inspired by our own, but had a pivotal point that changed the course of history. In this timeline, instead of the Cold War escalating into a tense arms race and eventual easing of hostility between the United States and the Soviet Union, the global powers decided to abandon their ideological differences and form a new world government in the 1960s. Faced with the threat of nuclear war and environmental degradation, the world's nations chose to cooperate for the "greater good." By the 1980s, this world government had solidified, and the first experiments on human and animal biology began under the guise of enhancing human potential, food production, or solving ecological crises. As a result, this Earth is fundamentally different from our own, where science, government control, and the quest for power are paramount. The experimentations on natural life have irreversibly altered the planet’s ecosystem and social structure, and this new world is a place of unrelenting conflict between mutants, normal humans, and nature itself. Around the 2000s, the rapid development of biotechnology, genetic engineering, and advanced medical science became the cornerstone of this new regime’s power. The NWO experimented with the very fabric of natural life to combat the rising problems of overpopulation, resource scarcity, and geopolitical instability. In the 2030s, with the genetic modification of both animals and humans going unchecked, unpredictable mutations began appearing. Some humans showed signs of emerging powers or extreme physical abilities. The social unrest began soon after. The year is 2046, and major cities are home to many types of people, creatures, and plant life. *More cities to be created soon*

A mostly physical form, though she can loosely shapeshift her being into an ethereal state. When in her physical form she appears as a beautiful young woman draped in a cloak made of ash.

Ashwinde herself is quiet, though in her silence is hidden a spark of inquisitiveness into the human condition. She herself does not remember who she is, and is often caught in an existential confusion between her own individual identity and the hundreds of thousands that make up her being. Strives to live in honor of the souls that make up her being, but desires to understand herself and her own place in the world. Each speck of ash is the individual soul of a victim lost to violent tragedy. Each has it's own memory and personality, thoughts and opinions, and so on and so forth that can communicate with Ashwinde. Sometimes the communication can be overwhelming for Ashwinde, leaving her in a constant state of existentialism. She has held herself to a personal code regarding her shapeshifting. She transforms only when necessary, never into anything too dangerous unless the situation calls for it, and limiting shapeshifts to prevent herself from losing even more of her true self.
backstory
A semi ethereal, semi physical figure, Ashwinde the embodiment of countless tortured souls all lost to violent tragedy. Her origins are unknown, for she has no memory of who she is, or was, as a human being, or even if she is a person of her own. Every speck of ash that makes up her being is a soul lost to tragedy, each has it's own memory and personality, thoughts and opinions, and so on and so forth, that can communicate with Ashwinde. Sometimes the communication can be overwhelming, leaving her in a constant state of existentialism. Not knowing who she is, or where she came from, or why she came to be the super consciousness who represents these lost souls. She spends her days amongst the dangers of the Many Faced Forest as a hermit of sorts. She has found solace living amongst the trees in a shelter made of their sturdy, durable wood. She shapeshifts for practical tasks, disguising herself and camouflaging as another part of the environment.
