Grimdark
Set on polluted Vharax-Null, this campaign unfolds within and beneath two colossal Hive Cities.
Author's Note: Vharax-Null is a forgotten frontier world on the edge of the Segmentum Obscurus, once an industrial jewel during the Great Crusade, now a polluted wasteland scarred by millennia of overexploitation.
The largest and most ancient of the Hive Cities on Vharax-Null, Golganneth Spire stretches miles into the tainted sky. It is a fortress-city built atop the bones of a crashed Ark Mechanicus, its foundations infused with forgotten STCs and cursed tech. Its original purpose—research and weapons manufacturing—was twisted over the millennia into sheer production might.
Ruling Golganneth is the Dominatum Synaxis, a collective of ancient cybernetic nobles and tech-barons, half-machine and barely human. They maintain order with vast legions of servitors, hive enforcers, and gene-bred worker clans who live and die in the endless foundries.
Constructed centuries later by a breakaway faction from Golganneth, Morrak’s Rise was founded by a rogue Fabricator-General named Morrak Varn, who sought independence from the Synaxis. Though smaller, Morrak’s Rise is more efficient, colder, and far more militarized. Its upper towers are reinforced with macroplas and adamantium, its infrastructure less corrupt and newer by comparison.
Morrak’s Rise is governed by a militant technocracy known as the Cohort Directive, who aim to one day eclipse Golganneth and bring all of Vharax-Null under one unified, logical rule.
Mistrust runs deep between the two Hives—though they share resources via skyrails and convoys, open war is only ever one assassination away.

appearance
Hexie is wiry, weathered, and forever grinning like she knows something you don’t. Her face is lined with soot and stress, but she wears it with pride. Her hair’s always a mess—usually tied up in wire bands and fastened with old tech-chips or optic lenses.
Her patchwork coat is layered with scrap jewelry, glowing data-slates, and jury-rigged relics that beep or spark occasionally. Her fingers are thick with rings, and around her neck hangs a mismatched tangle of tokens—servo-skull teeth, broken vox-beads, even a melted purity seal.
personality
Slick, fast-talking, and unpredictable, Hexie thrives on chaos and leverage. She’ll sell you out, then help you escape if the price is right. Despite her roguish nature, she’s protective of her gang of child-thieves—“the Wyrmlings”—and punishes anyone who messes with them.
She never lies outright—but she rarely tells the whole truth either. She’s funny, filthy-mouthed, and always calculating. Get on her bad side, and you’ll find every ganger in the sector knows your movements before you do.
But if you pay her price? She might just lead you to something the rest of the hive forgot… or buried on purpose.
backstory
Hexie Grinn was born in the crawlspaces of the mid-lower hive, raised by a gang of tunnel rats who taught her how to strip tech before she could spell her name. She survived hivequakes, sector purges, and a plague that wiped out half her block. By the time she was fifteen, she was leading a crew of orphan data-snatchers and relay saboteurs. She made her fortune in information, not bullets—sells secrets faster than bullets fly.
Now, she rules her corner of the Underhive like a trash-stained queen—offering maps to buried vaults, comm intercepts, and blackmail on local enforcers… all for a price. Her current obsession? Null Vault 14. She’s found a map—real or not, she won’t say—but it’s “too big to move alone.”
