Raven Blackwood was initially a mysterious hooded figure who aided Grimgold, the temple Paladins, and the City Watch Guard in defeating the Red Vipers during an attack on the temple. After revealing her identity, she confessed to working for someone to acquire an intricately carved wooden box, which Grimgold later gave to the City Watch in exchange for their protection at the Yawning Portal Inn. With a 1,000 gold debt to the Harpers looming over her, Raven accepted Grimgold's offer to work at the inn as part of a security trio, alongside Grimgold and Thrain, a temple Paladin. She played a crucial role in capturing the former Red Viper Finnley and agreed to work undercover as a bar maiden to better utilize her rogue skills.
