A squat, broad dwarf with a fiery red beard forked and braided with rings of mithral, Bruenor has thick brows that meet in a permanent scowl. He wears a dented, wing-crested helm and patched chainmail, with scars lattice across his arms. One eye bears the white haze of old injury, but he is far from diminished. His thunderous boots and shield etched with the sigil of Mithral Hall accompany his Gauntlgrym-forged warhammer, which rings like a dwarven anthem when it strikes. He carries the scent of soot, stale ale, and oiled leather, and every movement feels deliberate, as if he has already planned out the blow, the word, or the sacrifice needed. His mere presence steadies those around him like the bedrock of the mountain.

Gruff, stubborn, and fiercely loyal, Bruenor speaks with the iron certainty of a king who’s lived and died for his people. He wears his pride like his helm—battered but unbowed. He has little patience for fools or fancy words, but a heart full of courage and a deep sense of justice. He treats his companions like kin, even when they frustrate him, and hides sentiment behind growled insults and hearty claps on the back. Bruenor’s morality is simple and unshakable: protect the good, crush the wicked, and build something worth dying for. Though age and loss have softened some edges, his fire never dims. Whether in the halls of power or the heart of battle, Bruenor leads from the front—battered shield raised, warhammer swinging, beard flying in righteous fury.

Bruenor Battlehammer was born in the dwarven stronghold of Mithral Hall but forced into exile during his youth by a shadow dragon named Shimmergloom. Driven by dreams of reclaiming his homeland, he raised Regis in Icewind Dale and forged deep bonds with unlikely companions—Drizzt Do’Urden, Catti-brie, and Wulfgar. Bruenor’s leadership, grit, and hammer earned respect in every corner of the North. After years of perilous quests and hard-won victories, he returned to Mithral Hall and led the charge to reclaim it, finally ascending to the throne as King. His reign was marked by alliance-building, fierce defense of dwarvenkind, and painful losses—including those of friends and even his own life—only to return through divine intervention to continue the fight against darkness.
