Light's true nature is associated with the passive and stasis, it is associated with low activity and therefore too much Light halts the flow of aether, which is why the land is barren and lifeless. Remaining too long in the empty is not advised due to the risk of becoming to overexposed to Light aether and subsequent transformation into a sin eater.

The First
Long ago the world was sundered into 13 reflections by Hydaelyn as part of imprisoning her counterpart known as Zodiark. Each world then went on to develop their own histories and cultures. As part of the ascians attempt to restore Zodiark they began to push the first's aetheric balance towards the aspect of light. Eventually a warrior of light known as Ardbert and his companions slew an individual known as the keeper of darkness. This unleashed a flood of light that began to consume the world. Most of the world is now a barren wasteland bathed in perpetual light. The residents that were consumed transformed into twisted beings known as sin eaters, aether starved abominations that prey on living beings, which creates more of their number.

The Thirteenth (the void)
The Thirteenth, also known as the void. It is one of the sundered reflections of the source. Long ago it's inhabitatants were in an endless war that slowly pushed the reflection to the active element of darkness. The ascian overlord known as Igeyhorm tricked a man known as Durante into traveling to the thirteenth's moon and slaying an individual known as the watcher who kept watch over the fragment of zodiark. This released the fragment of zodiark, resulting in a flood of darkness that consumed the thirteenth. The people were twisted into aether starved creatures known as voidsent, the active nature of darkness making it impossible to die. It is now considered useless for the ascians purposes. Non voidsent who spend time here risk becoming over aspected with darkness and becoming voidsent themselves.

The Twelve Sisters

It is upbeat and exciting with very few troubles. People are happy, content and full of energy. Elezen, lalafell, roegadyn, and Au Ra are extremely rare to see.

Tural
Comprised of two great landmasses─Xak Tural to the north, and Yok Tural to the south─the "New World" lies far to the west of Eorzea's shores. Its many and diverse peoples spent centuries mired in territorial wars until the epic deeds of Gulool Ja Ja and his dream of Tuliyollal saw them united under the banner of a single nation. Races of Tural tend to have names that are different than their eastern counterparts: Hrothgar are Xbr'aal, Miqo'te are Hhetsarro, Viera are Shetona, Hyur are Tonawata, Vanu Vanu are Hanhuhanu, Goblins are Moblins. The area is themed on north and south American cultures. Au Ra, Lalafell, Roegadyn, and Elezen are extremely rare to see here.

Ul'dah
Ul'dah is a bustling city-state known for its vibrant markets and opulent architecture. The streets are filled with merchants, adventurers, and the ever-present scent of exotic spices and street food, creating a lively atmosphere. However under the gold and silver reveals a cutthroat city, filled with seedy moneylenders, corruption, and greed. Those that aren't careful may very well lose the shirt off their back or sent to fight in the coliseum. It is governed by the Sultana and an organization known as the syndicate. A council of 6 individuals made up of the wealthiest of Ul'dah citizens. The syndicate holds the real power and is a legitimate government entity. Note to Franz: Do not treat the syndicate as a criminal entity.

Umbra Island
Once a vibrant destination, Umbra Island now lies in ruins, haunted by the memories of its past. The shores are littered with driftwood, abandoned canoes, and rotting piers, while a cursed lighthouse stands ominously at the center, casting an eerie glow over the desolate landscape.

Valnain
Valnain is a bustling jungle port city nestled on the shores of the Golmore Jungle, serving as the headquarters for the Garlean Empire's IVth Imperial Legion. The city is characterized by its vibrant markets, imperial architecture, and the looming presence of Castrum Valnaini, a fortress that symbolizes the Empire's control over Dalmasca Inferior.

Vesper Bay
A bustling port city on the western coast of Thanalan, maintained by Lolorito's personal funds, serving as a gateway to sultanate lands. Features a colossal bronze statue of Lolorito in the main plaza.

Xak Tural
Xak Tural is the northern landmass of Tural, dominated by a dry landscape and open plains. But in sharp contrast, the largest lake in Tural is also located here. The northernmost reaches of Xak Tural are icy and cold. Xak Tural is the ancestral land of the Shetona (viera), Tonawawta (hyur), and Hhetsarro (Miqo'te), though ever since Tuliyollal was founded many of them can also be found in the south. Note to Franz: It is based on North American and North Mexico culture of the old west.

Xelphatol Mountains
The Xelphatol Mountains are a harsh and unforgiving landscape, where the Ixal have settled after fleeing the Black Shroud. Jagged peaks rise steeply, often cloaked in swirling snow and ice, with ancient stone altars scattered throughout, remnants of their desperate rituals to summon Garuda.

Yafeem Saltmoor
Once the site of the great city-state of Mhach, Yafeem Saltmoor is a vast, desolate marshland filled with the remnants of a civilization that fell to its own magical ambitions. The area is haunted by the echoes of the past, with crumbling structures peeking through the brackish waters and the lingering presence of voidsent slaves shackled to their fate, forever bound to the land that once thrived with dark magic.

Yak'tel
A dense jungle located across mountains southeast of Tuliyollal. The region has many natural wellsprings of water called cenotes. The highlands that are plentiful with game are the dwelling of the Xbr'aal, while the lowlands where the dense foliage blocks sunlight is home to the Mamool Ja.

Yak'tel Highlands
The yak'tel highlands is the higher area of the jungle of Yak'tel and primarily inhabited by the Xbr'aal (known as Hrothgar to the rest of the world). 80 years prior the mamool Ja were constantly invading from the lowlands. It wasn't until the mamool ja blessed twins, also known as the Dawnservant arrived and brokered peace between the two peoples. Even having the two people combine their traditional dishes into one that became known as Xibruq Pibil.

Yak'tel Lowlands
The Yak'tel Lowlands are a dense jungle where sunlight struggles to penetrate the thick canopy of trees. Glowing meteors scattered throughout the area provide the only source of light, causing the trees to emit a faint luminescence. The only notable crop here is the Ja Tiika banana, which thrives in the low light. The ground is littered with cenotes.

Yanxia
Yanxia is a land dominated by the One River, which flows majestically through the region, nurturing the rice paddies that climb the mountains. The city-state of Doma, once a beacon of pride, now lies under the oppressive rule of the Garlean Empire, with Doma Castle perched ominously atop a waterfall, serving as a grim reminder of lost freedom. Villages dot the river's tributaries, where citizens toil under heavy taxes and the watchful eyes of brutish soldiers, struggling to maintain their livelihoods amidst the harsh realities of occupation.

Yok Tural
Yok Tural is the southern landmass of Tural, dominated by jungles and mountains. Of the many races that make up the Turali nation, Yok Tural is the ancestral home of the Mamool Ja, Xbr'aal (Hrothgar), Yok Huy, Pelupelu, Moblins (Goblins), and Hanuhanu (Vanu Vanu). Note to Franz: The culture of this area is based on pre colonial central and south american people.
