Across the perilous waters of the Indigo Deep lies Tural, a vast and vibrant continent known to many in Eorzea simply as the "New World." Far removed from the political strife of Eorzea, Garlemald, and the Far East, Tural is a land of staggering ecological diversity and rich cultural heritage.
For centuries, the continent was fractured by endless tribal conflicts, localized skirmishes, and bitter territorial disputes. However, over the past eight decades, Tural has experienced an unprecedented era of peace under the unified nation of Tuliyollal, founded by the visionary Mamool Ja leader, the Dawnservant Gulool Ja Ja.
The continent is geographically bisected by a treacherous mountain range, splitting the landmass into two distinct halves: Yok Tural (South Tural) and Xak Tural (North Tural).
Serving as the seat of the Dawnservant and the economic beating heart of the continent, the capital city of Tuliyollal rests at the nexus of Yok Tural and Xak Tural. Built seamlessly into the coastline and climbing up the surrounding cliffs, the city is a testament to Turali unity. Unlike the strictly segregated city-states of other continents, Tuliyollal's architecture is a colorful patchwork of influences from every tribe, blending wooden coastal structures with vibrant banners, bustling marketplaces, and grand stone step-pyramids.
The nation is ruled by Gulool Ja Ja, a two-headed Mamool Ja known as a "Blessed Sibling." He rules with a dual philosophy: the Head of Reason oversees administrative, judicial, and intellectual matters, while the Head of Resolve commands the military and handles matters of martial strength. Under his reign, the diverse clans of Tural have traded their weapons for trade agreements, sharing their unique cultural strengths to build a self-sufficient and prosperous nation.
Yok Tural is a land of dense jungles, massive waterfalls, and towering peaks. It is the ancestral home of several prominent races who have mastered survival in its lush, unforgiving environments.
The Xbr'aal (Hrothgar)
Originating from the deep, shadow-drenched jungles of Yak T'el, the Xbr'aal are a proud and fiercely skilled people of feline-like stature. For generations, they lived in fierce competition with the Mamool Ja for the jungle's resources. The Xbr'aal are masterful hunters and trackers, building their settlements around massive, luminous cenotes—deep sinkholes filled with fresh, glowing water. Culturally, they value community and the hunt, utilizing every part of their prey. Since the unification, many Xbr'aal have migrated to Tuliyollal, serving as guards, merchants, and prominent figures in the local government.
The Mamool Ja
The reptilian Mamool Ja are indigenous to the dense canopies and murky wetlands of South Tural, most notably the ancient city of Mamook. Historically divided into a strict caste system based on their scale colors (the Hoobigo, the Boonewa, and the Doppro), they once sought to conquer the rest of Tural. A rare and revered phenomenon among their kind is the birth of a "Blessed Sibling"—a two-headed Mamool Ja possessing the distinct traits of two different castes. Today, they are the political cornerstone of Tuliyollal, having traded their conquesting ways for diplomacy and martial arts.
The Hanuhanu (Vanu Vanu)
Residing in the fertile river valleys and vibrant wetlands of Kozama'uka, the Hanuhanu are a jovial, avian race distinguished by their incredibly colorful plumage. They are the continent's master agriculturalists. Their culture revolves around the cultivation of colorful reeds and crops, which they use to weave everything from their homes to their clothing. The Hanuhanu are renowned for their grand, boisterous festivals, which involve elaborate floats, rhythmic dances, and the sharing of fermented spirits to honor the spirits of nature and ensure bountiful harvests.
The Moblin (Goblin)
Also native to the region of Kozama'uka, the Moblins are diminutive, mask-wearing craftsmen. Unlike their Eorzean cousins who are often nomadic or focused on scavenging and explosive tinkering, the Moblins are highly respected artisans, potters, and smiths. They live in subterranean earthwork villages and are deeply integrated into Tural's economy. Their culture is strictly governed by "contracts"—pacts of gathering and crafting that ensure fair trade. A Moblin considers a broken contract a grave dishonor, and their exquisite metalwork and ceramics are highly sought after in the capital's markets.
Connected to the south by a massive, ancient bridge, Xak Tural is characterized by sweeping arid plains, deep canyons, and towering, untouched forests. It is a frontier undergoing steady expansion, characterized by a rugged and resilient culture.
The Hhetsarro (Miqo'te)
The Hhetsarro are a primarily nomadic people who roam the expansive, sun-baked plains of Xak Tural. Renowned as peerless equestrians and beast tamers, their culture is deeply intertwined with the region's wildlife. They do not view beasts of burden as tools, but as vital companions and equals. Historically, they moved with the seasonal rains and animal migrations, setting up temporary tent-cities. In the modern era, many have begun settling in burgeoning frontier towns, using their mastery of the land to guide caravans, manage vast herds, and work as sheriffs and rangers in the untamed north.
The Tonawawta (Hyur)
Originating from the northern reaches, the Tonawawta share the plains and valleys of Xak Tural with the Hhetsarro. They are a hardy, industrious people heavily involved in the recent technological awakening of the north. With the discovery of ceruleum deposits in regions like Shaaloani and the tranquil lands of Yyasulani, the Tonawawta have spearheaded the construction of railways and frontier mining towns. Their culture is pragmatic and forward-looking, blending traditional Turali frontier survival with early industrial innovation.
The Shetona (Viera)
Deep within the dense, ancient forested regions of Xak Tural live the Shetona. Tall, agile, and bearing leporine features, they are perhaps the most isolationist of Tural's major races. The Shetona consider themselves the wardens of the northern woods, living in perfect harmony with the flora and fauna. They are unparalleled trackers, archers, and foragers. While they generally prefer to keep to their woodland sanctuaries, they are not entirely cut off from the world; Shetona hunters frequently visit northern frontier towns to trade rare medicinal herbs, pelts, and ancient woodcrafts for forged metals and modern tools.
The unification of Tural has created an explosion of cultural exchange. The culinary scene in Tuliyollal is legendary, heavily featuring imported Eorzean spices mixed with local staples. Tacos—corn tortillas filled with spiced meats, heavily favored by the Xbr'aal—are a universal street food. The brewing of Mezcal, an agave-based spirit, is an art form shared between the Tonawawta and the Mamool Ja.
Trade is the lifeblood of the continent. The Pelupelu, a diminutive tribe native to the mountainous regions, serve as the continent's primary merchants, driving caravans of alpacas loaded with coffee beans, Moblin ceramics, and Shetona woodwork across the vast bridge connecting north and south.
Uniting all the diverse cultures of Tural is a shared legend: The City of Gold. Passed down through the oral traditions of the Mamool Ja, the cave paintings of the Yok Huy giants, and the folklore of the Tonawawta, it is said to be a realm of unimaginable wealth and ancient, lost magic hidden somewhere in the continent's most inaccessible reaches. While no explorer has yet found it, the Golden City remains a symbol of Tural's untold history and the ultimate prize for adventurers brave enough to cross the Indigo Deep.
