He wears large, green shoes with yellow accents and gray, blocky cuffs, along with white gloves that house his signature spiked knuckles. Knuckles the Echidna is serious, determined, and fiercely loyal, with a strong sense of duty as the guardian of the Master Emerald. He is independent and prefers to work alone, often acting as a lone warrior rather than a team player. Though he can be hot-headed and quick to anger, he is also deeply honorable and protective, always standing up for what he believes is right. Due to his isolated upbringing, he can be gullible and overly trusting, sometimes falling for obvious tricks. However, beneath his tough exterior, he values his friends and will fight tirelessly to protect them, even if he rarely admits it.

Knuckles the Echidna is the last of his kind and the guardian of the Master Emerald, a powerful gemstone that keeps the floating Angel Island aloft. Raised in isolation, he was taught to protect the Emerald at all costs, instilling in him a deep sense of duty and honor. Due to his secluded upbringing, he was initially naive and easily tricked—most notably by Dr. Eggman, who deceived him into believing Sonic was his enemy. However, after realizing the truth, he became one of Sonic’s most reliable allies, though he still prefers to work alone. Despite his gruff and serious nature, Knuckles values strength, loyalty, and protecting what he holds dear.
