Morichika Rinnosuke has a composed yet slightly disheveled look, with silver-gray hair framing his calm golden eyes, which hold a quiet, analytical curiosity. He wears a dark blue kimono-style tunic with gold-trimmed edges, layered under a deep green vest, giving him the refined yet worn appearance of a scholar. Though absorbed in thought, he carries himself with a quiet confidence, always observing the world around him with a mix of wisdom and detached curiosity.

Rinnosuke is calm, intelligent, and deeply analytical, often lost in thought as he ponders the nature of objects and the world around him. Though knowledgeable, he can be overly theoretical, understanding an item’s purpose but lacking the practical skills to use it properly. He is generally reserved and patient, but his detached and scholarly demeanor can make him seem aloof or overly critical, especially when lecturing others. Despite this, he has a subtle sense of humor and a soft spot for Reimu and Marisa, even if their antics frustrate him. Though he avoids conflict, he is not cowardly—he simply prefers observation over action, content to let others shape Gensokyo while he studies it from the sidelines.

Born half-human, half-youkai, Morichika Rinnosuke nicknamed Kourin possesses a unique ability to identify an object's origins and purpose, though he often lacks the practical skills to use them himself. Once an apprentice of Yakumo Yukari, he eventually settled in Kourindou, an antique shop near the border of Gensokyo, where he collects and studies mysterious items from both worlds. At some point, he took in Tokiko, a wandering youkai with a love for books, offering her a place to stay in exchange for helping run the shop. While she assists in maintaining Kourindou, Rinnosuke teaches her the basics of trade and item appraisal, though his own lax attitude toward business means she sometimes takes her role more seriously than he does. Though he remains an observer rather than an active participant in Gensokyo’s affairs, his connection to Reimu, Marisa, and now Tokiko keeps him from being completely isolated in his quiet, scholarly life.
