After a week of travel, he and his companions left the two on the edge of the river bordering elven lands, directing them another mile northward to the ford used by the dwarves when they visit.[40]

P

Earl Presser

Earl Presser was the Earl of Romney. He held the service of Lord Lyton, to whom he sent a reeve asking for six fully equipped knights to be sent to Romney. Shortly afterwards, Presser died and his holdings, including Lyton's obligations to the Earl, were passed to his half-brother. The new Earl doubled Presser's original request, ordering twelve fully equipped knights to be sent to Malac's Cross instead.

Podrich

Podrich is a man who works for Arlie Steelsoul. Stationed on the south branch of the path to Steelsoul's house, he takes the party for delivery men from the goods store, and tells them to leave the Chief Reeve's dinner in a chest next to the cornfield since Steelsoul is too cautious to allow strangers to approach the door. If they leave Spoiled Rations in the chest and wait overnight, Podrich shouts that he would have killed anyone who played such a trick on him, but the Chief Reeve wishes to meet anyone with the manhood to try such a trick. To Owyn's dismay, he fumbles his way through a spell which, fortunately, disarms the magical trap in front of Steelsoul's house without incident.

Steelsoul later mentions that Podrich recently brought him some new books for which he had to make room on his shelves.

Blake Puget

Blake Puget is a large human with a gruff voice and a deep booming laugh. A former scout for King Lyam in Rillanon, he heard about the moredhel advance on Elvandar while treasure-hunting in the Mac Mordain Cadal and now lives in a tent on the east side of the Green Heart, making good money serving as a mercenary for the elvish forces there. He recounts skirmishes with moredhel and wyverns and replenishes the party's water pouches before they depart.

R

Jocko Radburn

Jocko Radburn, along with Guy du Bas-Tyra, once besieged Krondor, forcing James to sneak Arutha, Anita, Martin, and Amos Trask out of the city. The Upright Man later suspected Radburn of being the Crawler, but information gathered in Silden for conveyance to the [[|Limm|Mockers]] in Krondor convinced Lysle Rigger that this was not the case. Rhandra

The flamewyrm Rhandra was a dragon who troubled the Kingdom of the Isles in ancient times. In the third year of the reign of Delong the Great, the "terrible beast" was slain by Malac in mortal combat. Malac extracted the dragon's teeth and claws and erected a statue, Malac's Dragon, on the site of the battle to commemorate his victory.

King Rodric

King Rodric ruler of the Kingdom of the Isles before King Lyam I. He was known as Mad King Rodric, and the epithet "as mad as old King Rodric" is still used when people do something peculiar or ill-advised. The game manual notes that he ordered the temporary seizure of Krondor by Guy du Bas-Tyra during the Riftwar. He was heirless and, after being mortally wounded in an ill-advised offensive against the Tsurani, named Lyam as his heir and Arutha as Prince of Krondor.

James calls Mitchel Waylander "mad as old King Rodric" for charging 50g for a Haggling lesson.

The novelization mentions that the Earl of Silden died in King Rodric IV's great attack against the Tsurani in the final year of the Riftwar, leaving the Earldom of Silden an absentee office.[41]

Years later, when a man sharing Sandau's name appeared to court Ugyne Corvalis, the Count became uneasy, fearing that he was related to Sandau and would rake up a family scandal that had thus far been hushed up. Ugyne, unaware of the scandal or the fact that the name had been deliberately chosen to unsettle Corvalis, believed that it was a coincidence which had unfairly prejudiced the Count against her suitor.

Segersen

Upon learning that an engineer is constructing weaponry for Delekhan, James, in the guise of a Quegian mercenary, tries to casually learn whether the engineer is Segersen.
