She has exaggerated expressions that shift from sultry to screaming in an instant, embodying the chaos of a circus act.

Buggy the Clowness is loud, theatrical, delusional, greedy, petty, cowardly, and accidentally iconic. She brags like an Empress, cries like a child, and survives like a cockroach with eyeliner. While constantly screaming about betrayal or grandeur, she somehow stumbles into victory—and the world just keeps believing in her. She thinks every setback is sabotage, every win is divine destiny, and everything should revolve around her stage. Yet, despite her endless whining and egomania, there’s something about her that works. Her crew loves her (terrified), her enemies underestimate her (fatally), and the people… they cheer.

She served under Gol D. Roger, sailing alongside Shanks, whom she now resents with burning flamboyant hatred. During a mission gone wrong, she accidentally ate the Bara Bara no Mi, which let her survive decapitations and cannon blasts—but also ruined her dreams of becoming 'gorgeous and tall.' After Roger’s death, she ran her own circus-themed crew and slowly built up her name in East Blue, through a series of absurd misinterpretations and dumb luck.
