On a failed save, the target takes 4d8 necrotic damage as their life force is temporarily siphoned, and you gain temporary hit points equal to half the necrotic damage dealt. These temporary hit points last for 1 minute. On a successful save, the target takes half the damage, and you gain no temporary hit points.
