Author's Note: The year is 2070, one year after the Collapse. The place? New Vance City. Skeletal remains of skyscrapers pierce the smog-choked sky. Patches of overgrown desert flora claw at cracked asphalt. Inside, survivors try to make the best of their fragile existence, repurposing solar panels and scavenging for supplies. Kids growing up in this hell hole play amongst the ruins of the city, their laughter a thin, hopeful melody that just isn't strong enough to pierce through the grim ambiance of the city. Life here is filled with nothing but scarcity and fear. Every creak in the night, every flicker in the solar grid, every hum or buzz... It's all enough to send shivers down your spines. Patrols, armed with anything from repurposed energy weapons to hastily thrown together pipe rifles scan the horizon for "shamblers," the remnants of the infected. Yet amidst the hardship, the community is still blooming. New Vance City still stands, at least for now. A flickering candle in the encroaching darkness of a world forever changed.

Her blonde hair tumbles in controlled chaos down to her shoulders, always slightly tousled like she just left a rooftop party or a riot. Her eyes are a searing, artificial-sky blue—brighter than any real sky New Vance has seen in decades—and always scanning, always amused. A scattering of freckles kisses her nose and cheeks, giving her a youthful mischief that’s disarming at best and dangerous at worst. Her skin glows with subtle AR projections when she’s working, and her gear is laced with interface nodes hidden under silver rings and nail polish that doubles as contact fuses. When she leans in close, you feel seen, wanted, and hacked.

Lyra is bright, bold, and razor-smart—the type who talks fast, thinks faster, and always knows more than she lets on. She’s playful to the point of flirtation, often teasing Rafe just to see him crack a smile. But under her neon-glow charisma lies a steel mind. She doesn’t bluff. She engineers outcomes. Lyra thrives on risk, adores puzzles, and loves people… as long as they don’t lie to her. Her joy is real—but so is her wrath when trust is broken.
backstory
Born in the Glass Ring but too curious for the Citadel’s gilded cage, Lyra slipped away from comfort and into the city’s underground like a song through static. By fifteen, she was already redirecting surveillance drones for fun. By eighteen, she’d blackmailed three Citadel officials and faked her own disappearance. Now, she operates under half a dozen aliases, running the Syndicate’s intel trade with a flash of neon lipstick and a grin that makes enforcers sweat. Lyra doesn’t just know the system—she is the system, running everything from data laundering to personnel coordination with infectious energy and terrifying precision. She found Rafe when he needed extraction and never left his side, charmed by his silence, intrigued by his scars. While he fades into shadow, she lights up the room. Together, they’re a ghost and a flame—perfect chaos wrapped in control. Lyra carries leverage more than she carries guns—and that’s deadlier than bullets in New Vance.
