Basilisk Gate is a fortified gateway piercing the eastern wall of Baldur’s Gate, serving as the primary passage between the Lower City’s Eastway district and the Outer City’s Stonyeyes neighborhood. It connects the city to the Coast Way, a major trade route stretching southeast toward Amn, Tethyr, and Calimshan. The gate is a vital artery for commerce and travel, often bustling with merchants, travelers, and Flaming Fist patrols. Its strategic importance has made it a focal point for both economic activity and military oversight.

Basilisk Gate is distinguished by its imposing stone archway, flanked by statues of prominent deceased patriars, lending the gate its name. The gate's architecture is robust, featuring heavy iron-bound doors and battlements manned by the Flaming Fist. Adjacent to the gate lies the Basilisk Gate Barracks, housing military personnel and the Heapside Prison. The area is characterized by a constant flow of people and goods, with the sounds of commerce and the clatter of hooves echoing through its confines.
