Description

Eastway Expeditions is a compact outfitter shop nestled on Nuthkhal’s Way in the Eastway district of Baldur’s Gate’s Lower City. Owned by the shrewd entrepreneur Scalm Shilvin, it caters primarily to adventurers heading into the wilds—especially those bound for the jungles of Chult. The shop offers a modest but specialised selection of "jungle‑proof" and "dinosaur‑resistant" gear, alongside mundane exploration supplies, and even crew recruitment services. Following a surge in rapid expedition outfitting (some ending in fatalities), Baldur’s Gate instituted a 10‑day waiting rule on sales. In response, Scalm discreetly facilitates quick departures—or exits from the city—for an added fee.

Appearance

The storefront is modest yet practical, marked by sturdy wooden shelves, racks of backpacks, climbing gear, waterproofed clothing, and ropes. A worn sign swinging above the door reads “Eastway Expeditions.” Inside, gear is neatly arranged for utility rather than flair—compasses, machetes, tanned hides, even crude jungle medicine. A polished desk holds parchment contracts and crew‑recruitment orders. Scalm’s sharp eyes monitor every customer, making clear that every sale comes with an unstated clause—and never a price tag pushed too hard. Maps of Chult, Port Nyanzaru flyers, and hastily doodled routes line the walls, hinting at the many expeditions birthed from within.
