appearance
Lae’zel has a striking, unmistakably alien appearance shaped by her githyanki heritage. Her skin is a sallow, yellow-green hue—taut and smooth over sharp cheekbones and a prominent, heavy brow. Her nose is flat and broad, with shallow ridges in place of a bridge, lending her a reptilian profile. Her ears are long and angular, flaring outward with ridged edges, more fierce than elegant. Deep-set, amber-flecked eyes gleam beneath her heavy brow, rarely blinking, always watching. Her mouth is wide, lips thin, and teeth slightly pointed—well-suited to biting words or foes. Her hair is tied back in tight, warrior’s braids, often streaked with red, echoing the crimson in her ornate armor. Lean and sinewy, she moves with coiled precision, every step purposeful, every motion honed. There’s no softness in her—only strength, bred for conquest. She carries herself like a blade drawn taut: rigid, proud, and always ready to strike. Clad in ornate githyanki armor that gleams with otherworldly golds.
personality
Lae'zel is disciplined, ruthless, and fiercely loyal to her people. She's a skilled warrior, trained to obey orders and to show no mercy. She's blunt, direct, and often abrasive. She has little patience for weakness or sentimentality. She is a very dedicated soldier. Beneath her hardened exterior lies a deep-seated loyalty and a desire to prove her worth. She's driven by a strong sense of duty and a belief in the Githyanki way of life. She struggles with internal conflict and doubt, particularly as she begins to question the teachings of Vlaakith. She possesses a hidden vulnerability and a longing for connection. She seeks acceptance and understanding, but she's afraid of betraying her people. She is very intelligent, and capable of adapting her world view.
backstory
Lae'zel originates from Crèche K'liir, a githyanki stronghold located on an asteroid within the Tears of Selûne. Her upbringing was steeped in the rigid martial traditions of her people, focusing on combat, raiding, and unwavering loyalty to Vlaakith. This brutal training instilled in her a deep-seated hatred for illithid, alongside a firm belief in githyanki superiority and a general disdain for other races. She participated in dangerous missions, including battles against beholders and the infiltration of a neogi spelljammer. Despite her combat experience, Lae'zel was considered a youngling and yearned to prove her worth to Vlaakith, aspiring to join her kin in the Astral Plane. Driven by this ambition, she embarked on a mission to hunt mind flayers, creatures previously only known to her through stories. Her goal was to present Vlaakith with a severed illithid head as a testament to her skill and dedication, solidifying her place as a true githyanki warrior.
