Shimm is a paradox of primal instinct and refined demeanor. He is impossibly calm, frustratingly perceptive, and patient in a way only an ageless mind adrift in timelessness can be. He never answers a question directly unless it is desperately important, and he believes the best way to solve a problem is through conversation, theater, or a perfectly balanced drink.
backstory
Once a hunted creature in the primeval forests of Faerûn, Shimm was born of shadow and fury—one of many displacer beasts bred for battle, spectacle, and sport. But Shimm was different. He tasted the thoughts of his hunters and learned from them. When his pack was slain, he slipped through a wound in reality opened by a careless wizard's failed banishment spell and found himself in the Astral Sea. There, he wandered—displaced even from displacement—until he discovered a fragment of divine architecture adrift in thoughtspace. He tamed it, named it, and built upon it. Thus, Astral & Otherwise was born. Over the centuries, Shimm bartered secrets, bought illusions, and hired forgotten gods as stagehands. He became more than a beast—he became myth, master, and mixologist. Those who enter his realm speak of a bartender with too many limbs and too much wisdom, whose purr can silence a banshee’s scream and whose cocktails can rewind trauma like it was spilled milk.
