A short and wiry gnome rogue with leathery hands and sharp, glinting eyes behind smoked goggles. He wears a patchwork coat covered in mismatched buttons, each a coded signal. His white beard is trimmed into a sharp wedge, and he smells faintly of gun oil and oolong. His cane hides a blowgun, and his monocle holds a magnification rune.

Gruff, eccentric, and never seen without at least one teacup on his belt, Tharnik pretends to be a bumbling old man—but he’s sharper than the knives he oils nightly. He speaks in riddles and old guild slang, yet beneath the mumbling is a tactical genius with a penchant for misdirection.

Tharnik earned his nickname in Luskan, where he once posed as a tailor to assassinate three guild lieutenants using poisoned thread. After surviving a betrayal by his own guild, he vanished into the underbelly of Faerûn, eventually reappearing at the Gildhook Parlour. No one remembers hiring him, but suddenly the tea trays stopped squeaking, the stairs stopped creaking, and inconvenient bodies stopped turning up. He never left. Tharnik now oversees the hidden workings of the Parlour, from the poison caches behind the spice racks to the trapdoors beneath the velvet lounges. He also coordinates off-site “appointments” for clients needing problems to disappear quietly. Rumor has it he sleeps in the Parlour walls, and knows the entire layout by fingertip.
