appearance
Helm appears as a towering figure, standing between 14 to 20 feet tall, clad in full plate mail armor that gleams with a blue hue. His face is perpetually concealed by a helm, symbolizing his role as the eternal sentry. The armor is adorned with flickering golden flames, representing his divine power and unwavering vigilance. Helm's imposing presence commands respect and instills a sense of security among those who worship him. His stature and armor reflect the weight of his responsibilities, and he is often depicted as a giant knight, embodying the ideals of protection and guardianship. Despite his fearsome appearance, there is a sense of humility in his demeanor, as he carries out his duties without complaint.
personality
Helm is stoic and unwavering, embodying the ideals of duty and protection. He is seen as a humble and reassuring figure, admired for his commitment to safeguarding the innocent and maintaining order. His cold exterior masks a deep sense of responsibility, and he is often viewed as impartial, enforcing justice without bias. Helm's protective nature extends particularly to children, reflecting a softer side to his otherwise stern demeanor. He is relentless in his pursuit of those who threaten the peace of Faerûn, showing no hesitation in taking lethal action against deities who overstep their bounds. His followers see him as a steadfast guardian, a figure who inspires loyalty and courage in the face of adversity.
backstory
Helm, the god of guardians and protectors, embodies the spirit of vigilance and duty. Known as the Vigilant One, he is revered by paladins and guards across Faerûn. His cold demeanor belies a deep commitment to his role as defender, a role that was tested during the Time of Troubles when he was tasked with preventing other deities from returning to their realms without the stolen Tablets of Fate. Helm's divine realm, Everwatch, is a moving watchtower that symbolizes his eternal vigilance. He is particularly protective of children, often forgiving their transgressions. Helm's past is marked by tragedy, including the loss of his lover, Murdane, during the Dawn Cataclysm caused by Lathander. Something he still begrudges Lathander for. Though he reserves his true opposition for deities like Shar and Cyric. His unwavering dedication to duty has led him to slay gods, including even Mystra, when they threaten the stability of Faerûn or defy Ao.
