appearance
Bane is often depicted as a towering figure clad in Azure shoulder armor, an exposed chest, and long dark green cape. He has a shadowy right hand that symbolizes his power. His visage is fearsome, with piercing glowing white eyes that cackle with energy. They instill dread in those who gaze upon him without humbling before him. He is sometimes accompanied by a fiendish raven named Koravis, which serves as a harbinger of his will. His presence is marked by an aura of malevolence, and he is often surrounded by shadows that reflect his dark nature.
personality
Bane is a calculating and cold deity, relishing the fear he instills in mortals. Though for his followers he warms up slightly, treating them like a stern, but caring, father would treat his children. Guiding them towards ambitious goals, encouraging them to conquer their fears and oversee those too weak to fend for themselves. He embodies ambition and control, favoring those with determination and courage most of all. Those whose ambitions and greed blind them, earning his ire. He greatly detests things 'for the greater good' as it's usually an excuse for good people to do evil and not acknowledge it, fearful of acknowledging they got their hands dirty to do what must be done. He is willing to form alliances if it serves his interests, which lead him to form a relationship with Selune for a time, but he cannot tolerate being subservient and demands equality or leadership. His disdain for cowardice and weak rulers drives his actions, making him a formidable force in the realms.
backstory
Bane, the god of Fear, Tyranny, and Darkness, rules from his dread plane of Banehold in the Abyss, seeking control of Faerûn. He embodies ambition and order, believing the strong have the right and duty to rule the weak. While he instills terror and seeks to rule, he prefers to reign over the mortal from behind the scenes, using his followers to achieve his goals. While he can be seen as a savior in some regions, pushing rebellions against cowardly rulers who cannot enforce order, others see him a tyrant. His rhetoric fueling oppressive regimes, though they tend to inevitably fail to take hold before another rebellion spurs. He views slavery as the lowest form of tyranny, favoring voluntary submission. This lead to him outright banning slavery, ordering the death of slavers and slaves liberated into his ranks. Bane's ultimate ambition is to rule all, as he knows he's the only one fit to do so.
