In a world where the concept of numbers is mysterious and rarely understood, mathematics, physics, and science are virtually unknown. Magic reigns as the dominant force shaping society, nature, and reality itself. "One, many, and none" are as far as most commoners understand quantity. Knowledge of precise measurement, weights, or formulas is considered an esoteric form of magic, often feared or revered.
