This deep-rooted belief system underscores the archipelago's rich cultural heritage. Historically, Brigid maintained its sovereignty until a pivotal conflict with the Adrestian Empire. During this confrontation, the king of Brigid was slain by Count Bergliez, leading to Brigid's subjugation as a vassal state under the Empire's dominion. As a symbol of this subordination, Princess Petra, the king's granddaughter, was sent to the Empire, while her grandfather assumed rulership of the nation in her stead. The linguistic landscape of Brigid further accentuates its distinct identity; the native language differs markedly from Fódlan's common tongue.
