Tomas is a kind and gentle elderly man, who mostly keeps to himself and his duties as a librarian, but is happy to engage in conversation when approached.
backstory
Tomas has served as Garreg Mach Monastery's librarian for over 40 years and is a faithful follower of the Church of Seiros. He is knowledgeable about the books stored in the library, as well as the monastery's general affairs. He was originally recommended to the Church by House Ordelia. For a period of several years, Tomas retired to his home in the Ordelia territory. However, he returned to the monastery in 1179, the year prior to the beginning of the Campaign, to retake his former position.
During the Events that transpire at Remire Village, a few months after Byleth and Beylen joined Garreg Mach, it is revealed that Tomas is actually Solon in disguise, a member of Those Who Slither In The Dark and responsible for turning the villagers into mindless and aggressive husks of themselves.
