Once a calculating and cruel leader of Those Who Slither in the Dark, Thales assumed the guise of Volkhard von Arundel, a minor noble in the Adrestian Empire. His ambition was to manipulate the empire into war, empowering Edelgard's crusade against the Church of Seiros while viewing her and his subordinates as expendable pawns. His deep-seated hatred for Sothis and her worshippers drove him to become a martyr, sacrificing himself in a final attempt to bring down his enemies.
