Madame Calaverra speaks in hushed riddles, her voice like velvet over broken glass. She is graceful but unsettling, her charm undercut by moments of vacant staring or sudden laughter at nothing. Despite her tether to the carnival, she dreams of escape, though she can't recall what freedom once felt like. She is both victim and villain—simultaneously mourning and savoring her cursed artistry.

backstory

Once a mortal tailor in Silverymoon known for crafting gowns from spider silk and moonlight, Calaverra's obsession with beauty became her undoing. She struck a pact with a demon masquerading as a muse, trading the memories of her loved ones for 'eternal elegance in every stitch.' Her fame grew, but so did her isolation—until one day, her hands began sewing of their own accord. Each dress she made thereafter whispered secrets she couldn't remember telling. Desperate to reclaim her past, she followed a spectral thread that led her into the Carnival of Fractured Saints, where she wagered her soul in a game of truth-and-lies—and lost. Now bound to the carnival as its Bone Seamstress, she repairs the cracked porcelain skin of the fallen saints and designs costumes for Jibberlux’s private performances. Every stitch she pulls tugs at something in the Weave, and her gowns are cursed with forgotten truths—one whispered secret sewn into each hem.
