The Riven Lands

I
Ithikari

The Riven Lands are a fractured realm born from a magical event, The Sundering which violently pulled people from countless realities into a bleeding scar across existence. Magic here is a vile, twisting curse, its power warping flesh and mind. Its inhabitants, xenophobic and without loyalty, cling to life amidst decaying lands, endless wars, and horrifying Gods that everyone worships in some form. Hope is a lie; only brutal struggle remains in this world drowned in cynicism and sheer cruelty.

appearance
A tall, lean Tiefling female with mottled deep bruised purple and sickly iridescent green skin slick with sea spray. She has unnaturally long limbs moving with serpentine grace, elongated fingers tipped with razor-sharp blackened nails, and small vestigial fins behind her ears. Her eyes glow malevolent phosphorescent green, and she wears minimal practical armor forged from salvaged ship-hull plating adorned with barnacle-encrusted bone trophies.
personality
Morwen is a being of cold, calculated cruelty and boundless ambition. She is a survivor in the purest, most brutal sense, driven by the acquisition of power and cursed wealth through "maritime predation." Loyalty is a foreign concept to her; she trusts only the depths and the strength of her own malice. She views her crews and captives as expendable tools, to be used as "human shields" or "sacrifices to appease malevolent sea entities." She possesses a cunning, strategic mind, always seeking the most advantageous, and often most horrific, path to victory. Her encounters with ancient demons have left her with a perverse fascination for forbidden knowledge and extreme power, always seeking a greater "tribute" to offer in exchange for dominion over the seas. She embodies the "drowned spirits seeking new victims," as she is often the cause of their proliferation.
backstory
Morwen's legend began not on a ship, but in a desolate, forgotten cove where her clan made pacts with primordial sea horrors. She was one of the few who survived the "greater tribute" demanded by an ancient demon of the deep, a pact that twisted her form further but granted her an unparalleled understanding of the ocean's malevolent appetites. She rose through the ranks of Serpentscale's pirate captains through sheer ruthlessness and a terrifyingly intuitive grasp of naval warfare. Her signature move is to lure enemy ships into abyssal currents, not with illusions, but by subtly manipulating their fears and desires with her "Whispers of Temptation," driving them into the maw of unseen colossal sea monsters she implicitly understands. She is whispered to have sacrificed entire captive crews to appease the entities that now empower her, ensuring her plunder remains "cursed goods" of immense, dark power.
