While anyone can perform magic as long as they have a magic igniter, mages are those who specialize in, study, and understand magla—the substance by which magic is performed, and not simply using it. Mages bypass and don't need to meet INT/WIS thresholds to use igniters, and can even craft their own igniters, and even modify existing igniters to add or replace set spells with spells they've learned.
