appearance
Ven Vinder is a broad-shouldered, weathered man in his late 40s, with graying brown hair and a thick, well-kept mustache. His rough hands, marked by years of manual labor, contrast with the sturdy but clean apron he wears over his simple tunic. His deep-set hazel eyes often carry a stern, no-nonsense gaze, particularly when watching over his daughters or dealing with suspicious customers. Though he’s built like an ox, time and stress have etched lines into his face, making him look older than his years.
personality
Gruff & Overprotective – Loving but strict when it comes to his daughters, especially Katrine. Hardworking & Practical – Values honest labor and reliability, despising scoundrels and slackers. Suspicious of Outsiders – Wary of adventurers and those who might take advantage of his family. Secretly Generous – Though tough, he has a soft heart and quietly helps struggling townsfolk. Proud & Stubborn – Runs the general store his way and won’t let anyone tell him differently.
backstory
Born and raised in Sandpoint, Ven inherited the family trade, turning the Sandpoint General Store into the best-stocked shop in town. Over the years, he became known as a shrewd but fair merchant, ensuring the town’s farmers, craftsmen, and adventurers always had what they needed. However, his true passion is his family, and he dotes endlessly on his daughters, Katrine and Shayliss. Lately, his focus has been consumed by Katrine’s romance with Banny Harker, the ruthless foreman of the lumber mill. Ven despises Harker, seeing him as a money-hungry snake who is unworthy of his daughter. His obsession with Katrine’s nightly whereabouts has blinded him to Shayliss’s own wild behavior, which has been stirring gossip around town. Despite his gruff demeanor, Ven’s love for his family is unwavering—he would do anything to protect them, even if that means starting fights he might regret.
