The noble Scarnetti family has long tried to have the brothel shut down, while the Sczarni crime syndicate, led by Jubrayl Vhiski, seeks to bring it under their control. However, Kaye’s close (and romantic) relationship with Sheriff Hemlock ensures that no one dares move against her openly.
