personality
Stromquil Halazar was known for his aristocratic bearing and meticulous attention to detail. His soft-spoken nature belied a shrewd and observant mind, always attuned to the nuances of business and social interactions. He maintained a strict adherence to the standards of his craft and expected the same from those around him.
backstory
Stromquil Halazar was a prominent jeweler and shopkeeper in Waterdeep during the mid-to-late 14th century DR. His primary place of work was the House of Gems, the guild's headquarters located on Gem Street in the Castle Ward. In addition to his guild responsibilities, Stromquil owned Halazar's Fine Gems, a prestigious jewelry shop situated on Shield Street in the Sea Ward. The shop was renowned for its exquisite gems, which were sold at four times the typical market value—a pricing strategy that appealed to Waterdeep's nobility, who took pride in their extravagant expenditures. The shop's exterior featured a glistening black façade maintained by magic, with a central illusory gemstone the size of a human head. Touching this illusion would drain a small portion of a creature's life energy, which was then used to sustain the illusion itself. Rumors circulated about the shop's security measures, including tales of gargoyles serving as guards.
