backstory
Maskar Wands, the patriarch of the Wands family, was a staunch conservative who disapproved of the reckless use of magic. In 1370 DR, he faced the embarrassment of having his family heirloom, the golden scarab beetle, stolen by his own opportunistic relative, Marcus Wands. This incident forced him to seek help from Khelben Arunsun, who eventually aided in recovering the artifact. In 1374 DR, he joined powerful mages to cleanse the High Moor and restore the lost city of Faer'tel'miir. During the year of the Gauntlet, he defended Waterdeep against a Sahuagin attack, showcasing his immense power by lifting and incinerating a gigantic sea serpent, rallying the citizens to fight back against the invaders.
