He enjoys friendly competition and is always ready to challenge others to armwrestle, often bringing a jovial atmosphere wherever he goes.

Varbrace Zaalen was a skilled warrior and follower of Tempus, residing in Waterdeep during the mid-to-late 14th century DR. He earned his living as a captain-at-arms, instructing others in the ways of the sword, and was known for his muscular physique and the tattoo of Tempus's symbol on his left arm. Varbrace trained his students in the City of the Dead or outside the River Gate, refusing to teach anyone who tried to cheat him unless they were very apologetic and paid double the normal fees. He was proud of his fighting skills and often challenged others to armwrestle matches at the Inn of the Dripping Dagger, where he rented a room. Despite his prowess, he considered the risks of adventuring too high for the potential profits, preferring to stay within the safety of the city.
